John V Kerkove died at his home in Elmer township, Saturday, May 3rd, aged 78 years, 11 months and 23 days. Mr. Kerkove had been ill since last fall, and while his death was not unexpected, it was a sad blow to his sorrowing family, who have the sympathy of all in their sorrow. John V. Kerkove ws born in Belgium, May 11th, 1823 and came to St. Louis, Mo., in 1848, and in 1855 moved to Iowa County, Iowa, where he was married to Miss Margaret Dersch, July 14th, 1861. He came to this county in 1892, where he has since resided. He leaves a wife and ten children: Peter and John, of Ambrose, Iowa, Mrs. J.N. Seaton and Mrs. L A Wagner of Armah, Iowa, and Lewis, Charley, Joe, and George, Mrs J W Haubrich and Miss Anna, of this county to mourn his death. The funeral was held at the Catholic Church Monday, May 5th, Rev Father Mangan conducting the service. The remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery at Pipestone.
