She was born on June 2, 1941, in Cairo, Ga., to Fondron and Clyde Holden Mathis. Mrs. Bass was a resident of Red Bay, Fla., for over 25 years. She was Holiness by faith and a member of West Bay Assembly of God Church. She owned and operated, along with her husband Sherwood, The No Name Grocery Store in Red Bay. She was very active in donating to St. Jude's Hospital.
Mrs. Bass was predeceased by her father and mother; and one daughter, Patsy Whitley.
Mrs. Bass is survived by her husband of 49 years; three sons, all of Red Bay; one brother, of Cairo; one sister, of Cairo; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at Red Bay Baptist Church with the Revs. Jobie Kirkland and Rodney Infinger officiating.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
Burial will be in Red Bay Cemetery.
