Born in Owen County, KY. : Older 1/2 sibling: Jenny Bell, aka Virginia Pearl; Lizzie Jane, aka Elizabeth Jean; and Birdie Alice, aka Mary Helen. The grave marker is for Rose Murphy Nelson, not Rose "Mary". The four girls went to the county home after their father had walked out, their mother died and their grandfather died and their grandmother was unable to support them. The birth records were destryed in a fire and although there was a possibility Rose was born in December and that she "may" have had a middle name of Mary, the proof was gone so her new birth certificate was just Rose Murphy and the birthdate was November 12.
