Bertha M. Lowe, 86, of Centerville, SD, died July 4, 2006 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids, MN.

Bertha was born September 15, 1919 in Union Grove Township, Meeker County, MN to Jacob and Julia (Atzel) Robbins. She attended school in Fort Pierre, South Dakota.

She married Amos Archie Lowe on May 5, 1940 in Litchfield, MN. They moved to South Dakota in 1951. She lived in Wakonda, SD, Wiley, CO, and Centerville, SD. In addition to being a housewife and a loving mother, she worked as a waitress and cook at various local restaurants, she also worked at the Wakonda Creamery, Candling Eggs and at one time held the director of the Green Thump Program at the Wakonda Nursing home. She had many hobbies. She loved to crochet, play cards and games, and in the last few years she mastered the computer and loved the internet games. She loved to travel especially when she could do the driving. She spent many years in service to her church and community. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Wakonda, the Wakonda Legion Auxiliary and was Legionette of the year.

Bertha is survived by two sons, Don Lowe of Garden City, KS; Robert Lowe (Judy) of Silverdale, WA; daughter, Edith Hadley of Centerville, SD, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Hagen of Park Rapids, MN; and Thelma Thompson of Williston, ND also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Richard and Douglas Lowe, two infant daughters, grandson, Kevin Hadley, granddaughter Darla Lowe and a great granddaughter Cyndal Hadley, one brother and two sisters.

Burial in Union Cemetery, rural Wakonda.
