UNION CIVIL WAR SOLDIER. DIED AGE 70 YEARS. MEMBER OF CO D, 67 REG. PA. VOL.

Also served in CO E. 20th Regiment Iowa Infantry

Baptized 22 Oct 1836 at St. John's Union Church of Towamensing.

He enlisted in Company E, 20ths Regiment Iowa on 22 Aug 1862. He received a disability discharge on 24 Feb 1863, but returned to enlist on 29 Sep 1864 and again as a volunteer on 20 Jan 1865 in Pennsylvania. He was honorably discharged on 14 Jul 1865 at Falls Church, Virginia.

As a civilian, he was a boatman by occupation.

Son of John Boyer and Susanna Elizabeth Beer. Husband of Rebecca Lauer, and father of John, Ellen, Emma, and Jennie.




Note: This is NOT Benjamin Franklin Boyer, son of Isaac Boyer and Elizabeth Riegel, who was married to Alabama Shimer.
