Margaretta, daughter of James and Eliza (McClean) Wright, was born in Ohio and moved with her family to Illinois.
She married David Elder Lawhead on his 23rd birthday, Sept 26 1876. They were active in the United Presbyterian Church.

For a few years they lived in Iowa, where sons Robert and William were born. Robert died at age 2 or 3. The family moved to Takio, Missouri where Margretta gave birth to Minta Elizabeth. Eventually the family moved to St Joseph, Missouri.

Her son William was married in 1912 and Margaretta saw three grandchildren: Maxine, William, and James. But tragically, Maxine died at age four and was the first of the family to be buried at Mount Mora.

Margaretta died the day after May Day, just two months before her daughter was married.
