James Edward Strain

James Edward Strain, 61, of Praireton died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He had owned and operated Strain's Trash Removal Service for 30 years and also had been employed by Ben Harlen for several years.

He was born Feb. 2, 1945, in Terre Haute to Arthur James Strain and Stella Jane Johnson Strain. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Eva Laureen "Dimples" Ridge Strain. Survivors include his companion of five years, Rose Conder; a daughter, Carol Strain and her fiance, Rob Taylor of Terre Haute; two sons, Ronnie Strain and his girlfriend Cheryl of Terre Haute, and James "Peanut" Strain and his wife Sheila of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Ashley, Rachael, Scotty, Lance and Katelyn, all of Terre Haute; five sisters, Rose Greenwell and her husband Richard of Farmersburg, Donna Johnson of Zionsville, Ruby Rosscoe of Bentonville, Ark., Vickie Bonham and her husband Danny, and Betty Jo Switzer and her husband Jack, all of Terre Haute; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Joyce Strain of Farmersburg, and Bill and Donna Strain of Prairie Creek; and several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, "Old Bud" (his horse). He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Gene Strain.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Myers officiating. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery.
