Gerald "Jeff" Frank Wells

Gerald "Jeff" Frank Wells, age 75 died July 23, 2006. Services in celebration of his life were held Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 10:30am at St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Boise City, Oklahoma with Pastor Clay Wells and Pastor Jim Hewett officiating. He was laid to rest in Boise City Cemetery, with Military Graveside Honors.

Jeff was a proud father and grandfather. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954 in Germany.

Jeff was born at Griggs, Oklahoma to Glen and Leona Wells and was one of eleven children. Jeff started and finished school in Boise City. He graduated from Olkmulgee with a welding degree and a doctorate in diesel mechanics. There were few things that he could not rebuild, fix or improve on when he put his mind to it.

He married JoAnn Blackshear on July 22, 1957 and to this union was born one son, Clay and one son was chosen to join the family, David. Jeff and JoAnn made their home in Boise City for most of their married lives.

Jeff was saved and baptized July 26, 1970. His strong faith gave him a love of nature, friends and people with seldom a stranger met. He loved fixing antiques, tools and anything broken whether it was large or small.

He was president of the Historical Society when it was first re-organized in 1983. Jeff made his "friends' feel special with a prank, a flick of the hair, a pat on the back or a heartfelt word or act of encouragement. He cared deeply for you all. He especially loved teasing the ladies at the Senior Citizens or the coffee shop.

Survivors include; his wife JoAnn of 49 years; son Clay and wife Phyllis and children Jonathan and Catherine of Follett, Texas, son David and daughter Deanna of Stillwater, Okalhoma; four brothers, Don and wife Joan of Boise City, Oklahoma, Ross of Stratford, Texas, Kenneth and wife Lynn of Stratford, Texas, Virgil and wife Ilene of Buffalo, Oklahoma; four sisters, Nellie George and husband Paul of Annandale, Virginia, Helen Taylor of Stratford, Texas, Betty Maness of Wheeless, Oklahoam and Phyllis Wells of Colorado Springs, Colorado: sister-in-law Vickie Miller and husband Jimmy of Idalou, Texas and their three children, countless neices, nephews and friends,

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Leona Wells, baby sister Ellen Mea and sister Ruth Frantz.

The family suggested memorials to your favorite charity or the Boise City Senior Citizens, they may be left in care of the Cimarron Mortuary, Box 277, Boise City, Okalhoma 73933.
