He retired to Titusville, FL 1988. He was a farmer and later he owned and operated Massac Country Kitchen in Paducah, Kentucky. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Metzger. His wife Marilyn Terrell Metzger and a daughter Jennifer Metzger Sanders.
J W is survived by his daughters Shonna (Mike) Loden and Tana Metzger of Orlando; his son J W (Anita) Metzger Jr. of Titusville; grandchildren Todd Loden, Eric Sanders, Shawn Loden, and Tiffany Neu; great-grandchildren Ethan, Aaron, Asher, Ava, Briley, Isaac, Eli, and Caroline; and his siblings Mayola (Boots) Cross, Ralph (Jean) Metzger, and Geneva Metzger.
Services will be in Hayti, Missouri.
