Rites Held for Alberta Jennings of Griswold
The funeral service for Alberta Mae Jennings, 66, was held at Wagler Funeral Home in Griswold, with the Rev. Don Gordon officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery in Griswold. She died late Thursday night at Rio Grande Valley Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. The daughter of Leon W. and Grace Bell Krause Talbott, she was born August 28, 1921, near Lewis and was a 1939 graduate of Griswold High School. On Oct. 1, 1938, she married Charles Laurence Jennings in Papillion, Neb. She was a resident of Griswold until 1943, when they moved to New York, N.Y., for two years. In 1945, they returned to Griswold. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Parent Teachers Association and the Central Church of Christ in Griswold. Surviving are her husband; a son, Patrick of Des Moines and his wife, Barbara; three grandchildren, Jody, Lauren and Sarah of Des Moines; and her mother, Grace Talbott of Griswold. She was preceeded in death by her father, Leon, July 25, 1952. In charge of flowers for the service were Mrs. Joe Good, Mrs. Bill Dean, Mrs. Kenneth Erickson and Mrs. Harlan Dean. Musical selections played by organist Nancy Potter were “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Pallbearers were Joe Good, Kenneth Erickson, Quentin Schultz, Bill Dean, Raymond Goltry and Dale Kuester.
