Marvin Leon Aikins, 71, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Diversicare in Chanute, KS. Marvin was born on January 18, 1944 in Savonburg, KS the son of Carl Aikins and Nellie (Butcher) Dutton.

In January of 1962, Marvin married Rita Aikins and they had four children together. Marvin and Rita later divorced.

Marvin worked as a cabinet maker and owned his own business for 40 years. Marvin was known as the “cabinet maker”. He was a member of car clubs and loved to travel and participate in car shows. Marvin was also a member of the Masons. He loved to spend time fishing and camping, traveling and he loved his dogs. Marvin most of all loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark Aikins, a brother, Donny Aikins and a sister, Judy Wallace.

He is survived by three daughters: Lisa Schloss and husband Micheal of Herrin, IL, Kim “Bunny” Ginn and husband Scott of Arlington Kentucky and Stacey Miller and husband Randy of Chanute, five brothers: Larry, Glenn, Kenny, Freddy and Jimmy Aikins, a sister, Joyce Brooks, brother-in-law, Steve Cobb, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home-Johnson Chapel on 101 N. Highland in Chanute. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel.

Family requests memorials to Alzheimer's Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS.
