John Arthur Smeltzer 64, of Kittanning Township, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 19, 1951, to William Smeltzer and Dorothy (Markel) Smeltzer Baker, in Punxsutawney. John worked as a laborer for Kittanning Township. He was a member of the Holiness Gospel Center, Sagamore. John enjoyed gardening, hunting and fixing everything himself.

John is survived by his wife, Deborah, whom he married March 11, 1972; three daughters, Diane (Michael) Geidel, of Ford City, Lisa (David) Rupert, of Kittaning, and Becky (Chad) Copeland, of Kittanning; son, William (fiancee, Tammy Smith) Smeltzer, of Kittanning; three sisters, Jean (James) Gradwell, of Ford City, Doris (Robert) Pounds, of Youngstown, Ohio, and Arlene Condrick of Youngstown, Ohio; three brothers, Robert (Violet) Smeltzer, of Schelocta, William (Susie) Smeltzer, of Maryland, and Russell Smeltzer, of Ford City; sister-in-law, Rose Smeltzer, of Elderton; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Smeltzer; and sister, Connie Peffer.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., Rural Valley. Funenral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Kal Henry officiating. Burial will be place in the Atwood Cemetery.
