John is survived by his wife, Deborah, whom he married March 11, 1972; three daughters, Diane (Michael) Geidel, of Ford City, Lisa (David) Rupert, of Kittaning, and Becky (Chad) Copeland, of Kittanning; son, William (fiancee, Tammy Smith) Smeltzer, of Kittanning; three sisters, Jean (James) Gradwell, of Ford City, Doris (Robert) Pounds, of Youngstown, Ohio, and Arlene Condrick of Youngstown, Ohio; three brothers, Robert (Violet) Smeltzer, of Schelocta, William (Susie) Smeltzer, of Maryland, and Russell Smeltzer, of Ford City; sister-in-law, Rose Smeltzer, of Elderton; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Smeltzer; and sister, Connie Peffer.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., Rural Valley. Funenral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Kal Henry officiating. Burial will be place in the Atwood Cemetery.
