Fred was ordained a deacon on March 3, 1946, and was a charter member of East Pineville Missionary Baptist Church.

He was a proud WWII Veteran, having entered service in 1942 with the US Army, serving as a Combat Engineer through Africa, Tunisia, Morocco, and Italy, where he earned a Bronze Star.

Upon returning from the war, he married his high school sweetheart, Margie Wilder and joined his family’s painting business. After his retirement from painting, he enjoyed serving as a docent at the Bell County Historical Museum.

His life’s joy was serving the Lord. If you met him, you didn’t need to ask if he was a Christian. You knew it. He loved to tell stories to anyone who listened and was never at a loss of words on any occasion. He never refused dessert.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Margie, parents, Charlie and Sadie Partin Woods, brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Cole, Marcellus Sr. and Hazel Marie Wilson Woods, Charles Jr (Bud) and >Mary Frances Browning Woods, sister and brother-in-law, Gypsy and William Logsdon.

He is survived by his children, Dennis and Lutricia Woods, Andrea (Woods) Greene and Elder Steve Greene. Grandchildren Joel and Tracey Woods, Jason and Lauren Woods, Patrick Greene and Emily Greene. Great Grandchildren Lawson, Anna and Ava Woods, brothers-in-law, James Wilder and Paul Wilder, sisters-in- law, Doris Wilder and Pauline Wilder, many nieces, nephews and a loving church family.
