Sam E. Murphy, 73 of Long Point passed away Sunday evening (August 9th) at his home.
A visitation will be held Friday from 4 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
Sam was born on May 16, 1942 in East St. Louis, IL to Sam C. and Lenora (Stinekraus) Murphy.
Surviving is a son Norman (Mary Ann) Murphy of Bridge City, TX, grandchildren, Zachary Murphy, Danny and Duane Romero, great-grandchildren Brandon, Scott and Ryan Romero, brothers Dennis C. Murphy of Long Point, Ken Rhein of Long Point, sister, Wanda Kay Stoltzor of Rockford, niece, Tsipiora Mowers, nephews Michael and Shawn Murphy, Earl and Jimmy Dutko.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Clay Murphy.
Sam graduated from Postosi High School in Postosi, MO, he owned and operated Murphys Sales and Sandblasting in Long Point, he was also Engineer Operator 150. Sam enjoyed woodworking and going to the Gold Dust Diner Social Club in Dana.
Memorials may be made in his made to Ducks Unlimited or the Long Point Fire Department.
