Octavia Chaney Williamson ("Puss") was the daughter of Daniel Mobley Williamson and Tabitha Worsham. At nineteen, she married John Glenn Whitsett and together they had a daughter, Mary Olivia Whitsett (our Aunt Glennie). A year later John died in San Saba County, Texas leaving her a young widow with an infant. She returned to the Williamson family home in Millry, Alabama, and there met James Melton Guy, a widower with three small children of his own. They married in 1876 and went on to have eight children together. She was a great granddaughter of Francis Coleman, of Caroline, Virginia, a Patriot of the American Revolution.
She was the mother of nine children:
