George Dwight Roller

He was given the nickname of “dinky” by his mother, because he was so small at birth. Dinky was later shortened to “dink” by his friends and family.

After graduating Channelview High School in 1969 George went to work for Anchor Hocking. In less than a year he left Anchor Hocking to go into the army and was sent to Vietnam. In 1971 he was honorably discharged from the Army and returned home to Channelview. Shortly thereafter he married Becky Jackson in 1971 but after three years they divorced. Several years later in 1977 he married Mellody Langford they adopted a boy naming him Christopher. Once George was discharged from the Army he went back to work for Anchor Hocking until 1978. He left Anchor Hocking to go to work for Exxon where he worked until his accidental death in 1983. George and his best friend Bubba Boltinghouse were both killed in a work related accident, while driving their work truck they were hit by a train.
