Richard "Dick" Adams passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Fountain West Care Center at the age of 87. A private family memorial service to honor his life will be held at a later date.

A lifelong Iowan, Dick was born April 25, 1928 to Albert and Dorothy (Potwin) Adams. He spent the first ten years of his life in Valley Junction with his three siblings before settling in Des Moines.

He attended Roosevelt High School and Drake University.

In December 1949 he married childhood sweetheart Jane Carlson, and they had two daughters.

For 42 years, Dick worked at Motor Ways, Inc., an insurance agency specializing in truck insurance and financing, serving as president for his final 26 years.

Dick was a longtime and devoted member of Plymouth Congregational Church and a member of Des Moines Golf and Country Club for over 60 years. He was also active in the Camp Fire Girls while his daughters were growing up.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; his brother Tom; his daughters: Linda and Susan; three grandchildren: Carrie, Peter and Erin and their spouses; and his great granddaughter, Sarah. Dick was preceded in death by his siblings: John Adams and Elizabeth Wires.
