SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Steve C. Baker, 53, of Short Gap, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at home.
Born July 19, 1962, in Cumberland, he was the son of Eleanor (Evans) Baker and the late Dennis Franklin Baker.
Steve was a graduate of Frankfort High School.
He had been employed as a technician for Modern Mobility.
Steve had 37 years of dedicated service to the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department. He held many offices, including President and Fire Chief.
In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his son, Troy D. Baker, Short Gap; his sister, Carmen Phillips, and husband, Garrett, Short Gap; his nephew, Shane Phillips; his niece, Emily Thomas, and husband, Donnie; aunts, Naomi Southerly, Frances Sherman, Dorothy Wilson, Kay Smith, Grace Evans, and Doris Baker and, several cousins.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on August 12th at 11 AM in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Knowlton officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department, 128 Knobley Road, Keyser, WV 26726. .
