Obituary

Ollie “DeLane” Rogers of Signal Mountain, TN died on July 9, 2015, peacefully at home, surrounded by family after a courageous 20-year battle with various cancers.

DeLane was born June 21, 1941 in Jesup, GA. She graduated from Jesup High School in 1958, Dell School of Medical Technology in 1959, and South Georgia College in 1979. She moved all over the country while her husband was in the military and the nuclear power industry and finally retired from TVA. She was married to Dr. Ross (Rick) Frederick Rogers, III for 41 years and lived on Signal Mountain for 23 years in the Carriage Hill subdivision. She was an active antique dealer, having booths at the local malls and frequently seen at local auctions.

She was very friendly and lit up a room with her smile and demeanor. She was a devout Christian, freely helping others, and surely rests in Heaven today.

DeLane was a member of the Crossings Church of God, particularly the Wednesday Night Cell Group, the Signal Mountain Garden Club, and numerous bridge groups on the mountain. She supported the local Room at the Inn. Her yard was featured in the local paper several years ago due to her gardening prowess and statuary. Special thanks go to Dr. Daryl Johnson of University Oncology and Dr. Terry Melvin of Hospice of Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Taft Fields and her mother, Ollie Landon Fields, her maternal grandparents, Laura McLain Landon and David Laughton Landon, and fraternal grandparents, Lula Jane Ogden and Charles Cornelius Fields.

Survivors include husband, Dr. Ross F. Rogers, son, Emra David Baker (Karlin), daughters, Laura DeLane Cooper (Stephen) and Kristen Deanne Cunningham (Lee), sisters, Glenna Patricia Weaver of Griffin, GA and Sandra Jane Sumner of Jackson, GA; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Laura Cooper, Andrew Stephen Cooper, James Frederick Cooper, Erin Elizabeth Cooper, Kelly DeLane Cooper, William Ross Baker, David Richard Baker, Samuel Mack Landon Baker, Lee Michael Cunningham, Katherine Fields Cunningham, and Caroline Laura Cunningham.
