Raymond “Danny” Hobbs, 69, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness on August 7, 2015. Born in Blountville, he was the son of the late George and Mary Hobbs. He served in the U.S. Air Force and is a Vietnam Vet. Danny was a member of Colonial Heights and Kingsport Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool with friends. Danny was a great handyman that enjoyed helping family and friends. He was an amazing dad, papaw, brother, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Hobbs and Elsie Hobbs; one brother, Earnest Hobbs; and nephew, Ira Hobbs.
Danny is survived by his two daughters, Christine Yankee and husband, Mark of Gray, and Rebecca Hobbs of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Olivia and Ella Yankee of Gray; two sisters, Marie Hobbs and Linda Robinson, both of Blountville; one brother, George W. Hobbs and Maisie of Georgia; one nephew, Charles Hobbs of Georgia; one aunt; several cousins, and many special friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Gunnings Cemetery by the American Legion Post 3/265.
