Private "A" Company Minnesota 3rd Infantry


Addison N. Coleman was the son of John Coleman and grew up in Long Lake, MN. He was 21 years old when he along with his brothers, enlisted into service during the Civil War.

Enlisted on 10/5/1861 at Medina, Hennepin Co., MN as a Private.
On 10/5/1861 he mustered into "A" Co. MN 3rd Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 11/14/1864

The following was submitted by: Roger Norland:

Silden(Selden); John A,Jr.; Madison W; Addison N and Wilbur M Coleman. The first four all enlisted together in the 3rd Minnesota Infantry, Company A.
Wilbur was kept home due to his age being 16 per the article. However, he must have pressured his father, because just a few months later he was suddenly 18 and joined the 2nd Company of Minnesota Sharpshooters.
