Mr. Raymond Vaughn, age 83, of Vidalia died Saturday, August 8, 2015 in The Oaks Bethany after an extended illness.
He was a native of Oak Park and lived in Savannah for ten years and while there worked with Union Camp. He moved to Toombs County in 1962 and worked as the administrator for The Bethany Home for thirty-seven years. He also worked in security for the Social Security Office in Vidalia and Dublin for twelve years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a Deacon and member of the Olney Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis C. Vaughn and Bertha Deal Vaughn; and siblings, Cleveland Vaughn, Lonnie Vaughn, Mildred Davis, Edward Vaughn, and John Henry Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Wilson Vaughn of Vidalia; two daughters, Shelby A. Allen and husband Rob of Leesburg and Sherri Ann Vaughn of Vidalia; one brother, James Willard Vaughn of Lyons, one grandson, Richard Troy Anderson of Augusta; two sisters-in-law, Lennie Vaughn of Vidalia; and Frances Kersey of St. Petersburg, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Elder Keith Hamilton and Elder Mike Newman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until just prior to the service. Family and friends may visit at the home at 808 East Grossman Drive, Vidalia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Olney Primitive Baptist Church C/O Calvin Vaughn, or The Oaks Bethany, for the care of the Raymond Vaughn Courtyard, P.O.
