George James Hyland, age 97, Neenah died August 6, 2015 at Elder Lodge, Neenah. He was born March 14, 1918 in Neenah, the son of Joseph and Anna (Kutscher) Hyland. George was in the Navy during WW2 and was a signal man from 1943 - 1946. He was employed at Bergstrom/Glatfelter Paper Company for over 25 years before his retirement and was a devote member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Menasha his entire life. He still kept in touch with the church through bulletins and visits from Mary Krueger, of St. Pat's, to Pray the Rosary. As an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, and season ticket holder back in the late 1940's, George also followed the Cubs, and Brewers. He lived a simple and respected life which included reading the daily newspaper, eating popcorn, drinking malts, and watching the Lawrence Welk show. George is survived by his nephew Pat (Kathy) Casperson, Neenah and a niece Cyndi (Jim) Kussow, Florida; four grand-nieces: Sara (Jeremy) Hooker, Chelsey (Jason) Foster, Molly (Jake) Martz all of Indianapolis, IN and Gretchen (Fred) Fischer, Minneapolis, MN and a grand-nephew, Jesse (Kari) Kussow, Tabernash, Co. He had the extra ordinary honor of being a great-great uncle to 7 great grand nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, William, Joseph, Edward, Frank and two sisters, Ann Baldauf and Frances Hyland and his nephew, Mike Hyland. Per George's request, a private family graveside service will be held. Burial will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah, with full military honors.
