Richard A Silver (FAG Memorial # 150370001 was my brother. His birth parents were Donald E Silver (FAG Memorial # 70946153 and Darlene Plummer Silver-Gallaher (No FAG Memorial has been established at this time for Darlene.) Richard’s stepfather was Fred G Gallaher (FAG Memorial # 28011292. Richard’s first wife was Diane Mullins which resulted in Richard’s first three children by the names of Richard (Rick) Silver Jr, Tammie Silver and 1-day old Lani Silver (FAG Memorial # 280297970). This marriage resulted in a divorce. Richard second marriage was to his surviving wife Kathy. The other children listed are Jana and Jeff, I believe they were adopted by Richard. Jana and Jeff were children from Kathy’s (Richard’s wife at the time of his death) former marriage. May name is Steven Silver and my wife’s name is Joan not Joanie. Susan Gallaher was Richard’s half-sister.

Richard Silver, 67, passed away March 20, 2013, at his home in Winterset. He was born January 3, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Richard retired from DMACC in Ankeny after 28 years of service as a tool and dye instructor. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and King David Lodge 407 in Altoona. Richard loved working in his machine shop, fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Tammie (Steve) Thomas, Rick (Cindy) Silver, Jana (Mike) Van Genderen, Jeff (Courtney) Silver; grandchildren, Samantha, Jasiah, Craig, Tyler, Timothy, Rowdee, Dierks, Jarron, and Rowan; four great grandchildren; as well as his siblings, Donna (Chuck) Nicodemus, Steve (Joanie) Silver and Susie Gallaher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darlene and Fred Gallaher, and his daughter, Lani Silver.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Richard.
