Army Sgt. Charles Kiser of Cleveland Wisconsin attended St. Bernadette Elementary School before graduating from McNicholas High School in Cincinnati, class of 1985 where he was a sprinter and ran cross country. He was also a member of the track team at the University of Cincinnati, but dropped out after a year and joined the Navy. While serving his country for three years in Sigonella, Sicily as a SEABEE, he met his wife-to-be, Debra Theel, who was also serving in the U.S. Navy. They married on Aug. 12, 1989, at his parents' home in Amelia, Ohio. He later served as an M.P. at Fleet Combat Training Facility, Dam Neck, Va. In 1994, Chuck and Deb completed their active Navy service duty and became residents of Cleveland, Wis. His active duty military service was followed by seven years of Naval Reserve service at NMCB-25 in Green Bay. He then joined the U.S. Army Military Police unit in Sheboygan in 2001. Chuck was employed by GKN Sinter Metals of Manitowoc, as the third shift supervisor, until called to active duty in December of 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Chuck was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Sheboygan, where his family received many blessings through the music and ministry of their contemporary worship team. Chuck loved his church. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8974 in Cleveland, former Charter Organization Representative of Boy Scout Troop 948 in Cleveland, member of the Cleveland Athletic Club, and little league coach for his son's Manitowoc County Youth Sports. He was also a member of the Cleveland Fish and Game Club, where he was an active participant in their summer and winter trap leagues. Chuck was an exceptional athlete and retains five high school and two college records in track and field events. After seven years of active duty and seven years in the Navy reserve, Kiser joined an Army reserve unit because it was near his home in Cleveland, Wis. Before being deployed, he worked as a supervisor at GKN Sinter Metals, a Manitowoc firm that manufactures automotive parts. He was 37. Sheboygan Armory
