Lawrence R. Cole, age 92, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and lifelong Wellington resident, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 4, 2015, at his home in Wellington. Lawrence was a retired farmer.

Lawrence was born on August 17, 1922 in Renfrow, OK to Charles W Cole and Blance D. Williams Cole. Lawrence was a graduate of WHS with the Class of 1941. He served from 1942 to 1946 with the Army Air Corps during WWII.

Lawrence and Maxine LeForce were married on August 28, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Wellington, KS.

Lawrence enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He will be remembered for his strong faith and he served as Elder at the Church of Christ from 1962-1999. He also served for several years on the 76 Township board and the Fire District #7 Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clayton Cole, sister Marie Hetrick, granddaughter, Holly Cole, two great grandsons; Lucas Cole and Myles Gridley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Maxine, of Wellington, three children; Jill DeJarnett, Chuck Cole and his wife Carley, and Jane Cole, all of Wellington. Grandchildren, Jamie DeJarnett Dodds and husband Kevin, Jenny DeJarnett Gridley and husband Lanny, Ashley Cole Colwell and husband Mack, and Haley Cole. Great grandchildren, Sabrena, Parker and Piper Dodds, Draecon Lee, Rahlee, Natalie, and Casey Colwell, Maeve and Harrison Gridley.
