Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Nathan T. Copeland, 77, who died at 2 o'clock the same morning at his home in the Cowpen Neck section. Mr. Copeland, a well-known farmer, was born in Chowan County and lived here all his life. His death followed an illness of several months.
Funeral services were held at the home with Rev. J. T. Byrum officiating, interment taking place in the family burying ground.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. S. Sutton and Mrs. Norman Lane, of Edenton, and Mrs. R. M. Horton, of Windsor; five sons, John E., of Wenona, Nathan, Clarence, Jesse and Jasper, the later twins, all of Edenton.
