Rita Horton, 60, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born January 22, 1955, to Elbert James and Earlene Griffin Watts. On Septmeber 10, 1971, Rita married the love of her life, Jacky C. Horton. Rita spent her spare time tending to her rose bushes and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed canning vegtables and fruits, as well. Her love for animals always had her taking in strays.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015, at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jerry Dunaway and Rev. Larry Dunaway officiating. Graveside service will be in Unity Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Jacky C. Horton; four children, Sonya Brooks (Roger) of Guntown, Tracy Coleman of Tupelo, Michael Horton of San Diego, California, Jennifer Kidd (Mike) of Saltillo; six grandchildren, Kristen Letson (Cody) of Unity Community, Hunter Brooks and Kelsey Brooks of Guntown, Mia Coleman of Tupelo, Ashley Copeland and Audrey Kidd of Saltillo; one great grandchild, Kinleigh Letson and one sister, Nell Dunaway of Baldwyn.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; one sister, Frances Vess and two brothers, EJ and Richard Watts.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Dunaway, Marty Dunaway, James Horton, Gerald Horton, Jerry Rogers and Anthony Dunaway.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Brooks, Mike Kidd and Josh Dunaway.
Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo.
