Jenifer DuBose Heyward, a sculpture, former actress and member of the "Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo", died of cancer on March 27, 1984 at Lenox Hill Hospital. She was 54 years old and lived at 34 Gramercy Park and Southold, Long Island, New York.
Miss Heyward was the only child of the late Dubose Heyward, author of the novel "Porgy" among other works, and Dorothy Hartzell Kuhns Heyward, who co-authored with her husband a screenplay and dramatization of the novel. She had married in 1975 to Judson Wood Jr. in New York. Jenifer was a descendant of the long established Heyward family of Charleston, South Carolina including Judge Thomas Heyward, Signer of the Declaration of Independence, who was her 4x great grandfather. She lived in Charleston, South Carolina with her parents for years, then moved around and ended up in New York.
