She had married in 1975 to Judson Wood Jr. in New York. Jenifer was a descendant of the long established Heyward family of Charleston, South Carolina including Judge Thomas Heyward, Signer of the Declaration of Independence, who was her 4x great grandfather. She lived in Charleston, South Carolina with her parents for years, then moved around and ended up in New York.
