Son of Joseph C. WARREN and Nellie EGGERS. Married Lola Sue TRIVETTE.

Lester Warren, age 87, of Warren Hollow Road, Zionville, NC, died August 5, 2015, at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He was born November 19, 1927 in Watauga County, NC. He was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church in the Mabel Community and served on the Cemetery Committee for several years. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from
1945 - 1948 as a Boatswain's Mate during Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll during the Atomic Bomb tests.

Lester was a true outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and trapping. Some of his many talents in life were beekeeping, tending his heirloom apple orchard, and raising Christmas trees. Also, he was a true Master Spring Restorer. He loved being outside and had a real appreciation and respect for nature.

Lester is survived by three daughters, Judy Warren Matheson of Zionville, Jennifer Warren Dotson of Boone, and Donna Warren Minton and husband Phil of Boone; one special granddaughter, Robin Smith and husband Richard of Zionville; two beloved grandchildren, R. Cole Smith and Lola Rose Matheson, both of Zionville; one half-brother, Arlton Cole and wife Harriett of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and one half-sister, Betty Jo Stanberry and husband Alvin of Boone. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Sue Trivette Warren, and two sisters, Chloe Cole and Rose Edna Greene.

Funeral services were held at Union Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Vernon Eller, Reverend Derick Wilson and Reverend Bill Warren. Military graveside rites and burial, provided by the United States Navy, American Legion Post 130 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
