Rudy passed away August 5, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Thomaston, GA, he was the son of the late Douglas R. Smith, Sr. and Minnie Clara Boyette Smith. He was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed playing his PS4, XBOX and other gaming systems and loved to build models of all kinds, especially WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Senn Smith; brothers: Steve (Nancy) Smith and Randy Smith; aunts: Mary Williams, Jackie (Buck) Warren, Brenda Boyette and Frances (Gene) Lassiter; nephews: Paul and Andy Smith; nieces: Elisha Clack, Rebecca Smith and Clara Ann Smith; two great nieces and one great nephew and his four legged companions: Lucky, Pearl and Shirley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Allan Smith.

A service to celebrate the life of Rudy Smith of West Columbia will be held 3 PM on Saturday August 8, 2015 at Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be held at Southland Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice or to the church.
