Sarah "Sally" Jean Stoddard-Marks

Sally Stoddard-Marks, 76, of Deltona, Florida, formerly of Champaign, Illinois, died Friday, September 15, 2006 in Orange City, Florida following a brief illness.

Sally was born April 27, 1930 in Springfield, Illinois, the only child of Isaac Allen and Emma Lou Williams-Veatch. She graduated from Normal High School in 1948 and Illinois Wesleyan University in 1952, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She married Darold Clyde Stoddard in July 1954 and relocated to Champaign, Illinois. A lifelong educator, Sally was an elementary school teacher with Champaign Unit 4 schools until 1991 and served as Alumnae President of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She relocated to Florida in 1995 and married Charles William "Bill" Marks of Deltona, Florida in January 2000.

Throughout her life, Sally had a passion for both people and community. She was highly involved in school activities, and wrote and edited newsletters for both the Alpha Gam Alumni organization and the M-T Bottle Collectors Association. She was an avid sports fan, an active member in her church, and loved walking on the Florida beaches.

Sally is survived by Darold Stoddard of Red Oak, Iowa, Bill Marks of Deltona, Florida; four children and their spouses, David C. Stoddard of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Susan J. Read and husband Don, of Arvada, Colorado, Nancy A. Butler and husband Doug, of Puyallup, Washington, Diane C. Maske and husband Martin, of Tacoma, Washington; and three grandchildren, Micah D. Read, Jessica J. Read and Daniel M. Read of Arvada, Colorado. She was preceded in death by both parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Duane LaCock officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. A memorial service at Rima Ridge Baptist Church in Ormond Beach, Florida will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2006.
