Randall ("Randy") Carl Spencer, 63, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at home with his loving family by his side. Randy faced his recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer with courage, strength and acceptance. Randy was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 15, 1952. In 1960, his family (Ken, Edye, Randy and Brian) moved from Jacksonville, Florida to Gulf Breeze, Florida. Growing up on the Gulf Coast fostered Randy's love of the water. He shared his immense knowledge of our beautiful coastal area with his younger brother, children, grandchildren and friends. He was predeceased in death by his father, Kenneth Randall ("KR") Spencer. Randy is survived by his wife, Linda Smarr Spencer, his daughter and son in law, Summer Spencer King and Todd King of Gulf Breeze, his son and daughter in law, USCG CMC Devin Randall Spencer and Jill Spencer of Petaluma, California, his mother and stepfather, Edye and Bob Brewis of Gulf Breeze, his brother and sister in law, Brian Kenneth Spencer and Crystal Collins Spencer, his grandchildren Courtney, Kaylee and Kenna King and Isabella, Tyler Kenneth and Elizabeth Jane Spencer. He is also survived by his former wife, Sally Jane Davis Spencer, and his stepmother Jackie Spencer.

Special extended family and friends include Dr. Fred Renfroe, Carl Redish, Gabriel ("Gabe") and Cinthia Solano, Ruth Riggins and The Breeze Family. Randy's peaceful journey to Heaven was aided by his Angel on Earth, Tamara Guilday.

Randy graduated from Woodham High School in 1969 and the Pensacola Police Academy, Pensacola State College in 1973. He served the Tallahassee area community as a Deputy Sherriff and later the State of Florida as one of the first Child Abuse Investigators where he became an instructor to law enforcement officers around the state in the area of child abuse. An entrepreneur, Randy ultimately left law enforcement to start his own business and later returned to the Pensacola area to work with his father Kenneth R. Spencer as a commercial real estate broker. As a young boy growing up in Gulf Breeze, Randy was an active member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. Randy was a member of the Gulf Breeze Rotary, a Paul Harris Fellow and received Rotary International's Service Above Self award for his volunteer work which included 9 medical mission trips to Costa Rica. Randy's favorite activities included boating, fishing, golfing, trips to Biloxi, cooking and spending time with family. As a loving father, he encouraged Devin and Summer to always "Be Happy and Be Thankful". No doubt, Randy will also be remembered for his value engineered repair and renovation projects.

A celebration of Randy's life will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015, 4 PM, at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 75 Fairpoint Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice in the name of Randy Spencer, 2001 North Palafox Street, Pensacola, FL 32501 or to a charity of your choice .
