Jay F. Lawson, 62, Dies While At Work

Jay F. Lawson, 62, of 130 West Second street, died suddenly of a heart attack while at work at the Smoke House Billiard parlor, 108 South Market street, at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Born July 13, 1891, in Fairfield, he was the son of Samuel P. and Susan E. Burns Lawson. He was married to Edith Moore, April 21, 1936. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Roberts of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Jack King of Ottumwa; one son, Jack Lawson of Rock Falls, Ill.; one stepson, Arthur L. Moore of Brooklyn, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren two step-grandchildren, one brother, Verna Lawson of Campbell, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Anna DeBord of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry A., Fred, Emil and John I. Lawson; and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Hicks and Mrs. Effie Emanuel.

Funeral services will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel at 3 p.m. Friday in charge of the Rev. LaVerne Morris, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alva Howell, Robert Doyle, George Hampton, Tulio Della Vedova, Howard Lee and W.M. Hicks.
