She was the daughter of John W. Young Sr. and Shirley Casey Brown Young and was raised by her aunt Mattie Hill.
Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Aunt Mattie Hill, sister, Shirley Young Daugherty and brother, John W. Young, Jr.
She was a graduate of Bate High School and a member of St. James A.M.E. Church.
Lula is survived by her husband, Jerry Graves, Danville, KY; her children, Joy Jenkins, Wichita, KS, Keith (Anna) Houston, Nicholasville, KY, James (Kayee) Houston and Jeffrey Houston, both of Danville, KY; two sisters, Mary J. (Paul) Smith, Louisville, KY and Hattie Mae Dortch, New Albany, IN; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 brother-in-laws, 3 three sister-in-laws; also host of other relatives and friends.
