Mrs. Lucy Hatter Edwards, age 92 of Franklin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at her home surrounded by family. Crafton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11am at Sulphur Spring Baptist Church with burial to follow in Sulphur Spring Cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Grainger Hatter and Cora Adams Hatter. She was a member of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church for 80 years. “Miss Lucy”, as she was lovingly known to hundreds of children, taught 3 year old Sunday school classes for over 60 years. She also taught Vacation Bible School, Girls in Action and the nursery age children. She retired from the Simpson County School System as secretary of West Simpson School and Franklin Elementary School. She loved nature and God’s creations and enjoyed spending time with family. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by a daughter – Mary Edwards Spencer, a brother – James O. Hatter and her husband of 64 years – Charles Millard Edwards. Survivors include her daughter – Glenda Edwards Johnson and husband Claud of Franklin; 2 grandchildren – Kim Johnson Wren and husband Zak and Ryan Johnson and wife Jessica all of Franklin; 6 great grandchildren – Dax and Max Wren, Chase, Maeli, Emma and Brody Johnson all of Franklin; son-in-law – Dale Spencer of Franklin; sisters – in – law – Betty Ruth Hatter and Dorothy Edwards Burr both of Franklin; special children – Jordan and Rian Trotter; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends; excellent caregivers for the last 2 ½ years – Amanda Duvall, Carolyn Boggs, Theresa Long, Grace Jackson, Tammy Poteet, Samantha Lane, Kathy Duvall, Andrea Jackson, Barbara Lockhart and Ashley Duvall.
