Kermit was born on March 18, 1914, in Van Wert, Ohio, to the late Alvin and Bessie Ackerman.
He was a Pharmacy First Mate for the US Navy. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served at Iwo Jima. He spent his whole career as a Pharmacist, where he was self-employed.
In addition to his parents, Alvin and Bessie Ackerman he was preceded in death by, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Speakman Ackerman of Trumann; one daughter, Ruth Ann Ackerman of Warren, Michigan; one son, Wayne Speakman of Florida; one brother, Jerry Ackerman of Florida; a sister, Dorothy Richards of Michigan; one granddaughter, Diane Gryka and one grandson, Todd Campbell both of Michigan; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services were in the Nettleton Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
