Actor. Born in St. Helens, Oregon, he was a character performer whose more than 50-year career included roles in classic films such as "The Thing" (1951), "Monkey Business" (1952), "War of the Worlds" (1953), and "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962). He appeared in more than 250 television shows such as "Perry Mason," "The Twilight Zone" and "The Monkees," but he is best remembered as Howard Buss on "Picket Fences." He died at the Motion Picture and Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, California.
