The following was published in The Loudonville Democrat, Loudonville, Ohio, Thursday, August 9, 1917, page 3, column 2.

Sarah Grubaugh was born April 16, 1822 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Cowell August 3, 1917, aged 95 years, 3 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Michael Kiner February 20, 1842. To them were born twelve children, eight sons and four daughters of whom two sons and one daughter and the husband passed on before. Of her descendants there are 40 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. At the age of 16 Mrs. Kiner became a Christian, uniting first with the Wineberarian church and later with the Brethren or Dunkard body. On account of a severe accident happening five years ago Grandma Kiner has been confined to the house, but her disposition was one of cheerfulness and patience. She was a great lover and reader of the "Book of Life" as the well used and much marked copy of her Bible showed. For four score of years a follower of her Master she passed to her rest as a pilgrim journeying home. Funeral services were conducted from the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. Lasley assisted by Revs. Brubaker and Workman. Interment was made in the Perrysville cemetery. The body was borne to its last resting place by six of her grandsons.

Card of Thanks. We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their many kindnesses and the ministers and Baptist choir for their acceptable services during the late illness and death of Mother Kiner. John Cowell and Family.

The following info was provided by Dick Holmes 15 Aug 2015.
Sarah Ann Grubaugh was born to Michael Grubaugh (1792). The name of her mother is unknown and depends considerably on the birth date. Her mother is either Eleanor Snyder or Catherine ??, Michael's 3rd wife. Her date of birth above is, at best, an compromise. Her death certificate states that she was born in 1822. The various census images provide a variety of birth dates - Sarah is not listed with her family in the 1830 census; in 1840 she is listed as being 5-10 (1830-1835); in 1850 she is listed as being 19(1831); in 1860 she is listed as being 38 (1822); in 1870 she is listed as being 37 (1833); in 1880 she is listed as being 60 (1820); and in 1900 she is listed as being 75 (1825). Her first child was born in 1848 and her final child was born in 1871. I've used the 1850 census as the basis for her birth year. Her obituary states that she was married on 20 Feb 1842, but her marriage registry lists her marriage to Michael Kiner on 15 Feb 1853.
Sarah's child in 1848 was John Jackson Castor. He was born out of wedlock with Tobias Castor. John is listed with Sarah in 1850 (as John Grubaugh) and in 1860 (as John Kiner), but he finally assumes the surname of his birth father - Castor. His death certificate (1925) identifies Sarah Grubaugh as his mother and Tobias Castor as his father. Sarah married William Hewlett on 21 Jun 1852 in Richland County, OH, but that marriage didn't last long, or William died. Sarah married a widower, Michael Kiner, on 15 Feb 1853 in Richland County, OH.
In 1860, Sarah is listed with her husband, Michael. The ages of almost everyone in the family in this census are incorrect. Michael (36) is listed as being 40; Sarah (29) is listed as 38, John is listed correctly as 14, Samuel (7) is listed as being 12, William (4) is listed as being 10, Sarah (likely 2) is listed as being 8, and an unnamed infant, Lydia June, is listed correctly as 4 months.
Sarah and Michael had at least 10 children together. In the 1900 census, Sarah claims to have had 16 children, of whom 10 were still alive. Michael died in 1878, but Sarah never remarried again. She died in 1917.
