Mr. Babb was born in Fulton County, Georgia the son of the late Charles Smith Babb and Lula Mae Creil Babb. He was the last survivor of seven siblings: C.S. Babb,Jr.(#86158845), Earl Babb, Lillian Cofer, Edna O'Neill (#130751675), Wilma Pittman, and Ophia Sdao (#86812171). He was also preceded in death by an infant son, H.M. Babb, Jr.(#86159165) his first wife, Erma Bowen Babb, his second wife, Viola Cothran Batson Babb, and a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Angel. Mr. Babb's final days were in residence at the Clary Center in Toccoa, Georgia.

Mac was a faithful member of Zebulon Baptist Church for the majority of the 34 years he lived in Toccoa, serving as a deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the South Pacific where he received the Purple Heart and other service awards. He retired from the Veterans Administration in Atlanta after 38 years of service.

Funeral services will be held Friday August 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Ty Childers officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Riverdale, Georgia. Military Honors will be provided by the Georgia National Guard.
