Jeff Taylor, age 59 of Sierra Madre, formerly of La Canada, died on Thanksgiving Day after a 3-year battle with lung cancer. Jeff was born in Glendale in 1954, son to the late James and Virginia Taylor. He was an enthusiastic fan of anything baseball and expert on the dead-ball era; he operated a memorabilia shop in Montrose, did woodworking in Oregon, then turned to his real love, music, upon his return to La Canada. He sold instruments and gave guitar lessons at Grayson's in Montrose before opening his own retail store, Pasadena Guitars, in 2008.

He was a widely-respected master of the blues guitar, playing and recording over the years with the Black Creek, Mad Shadow, TCS (Taylor-Carruthers-Swanson), Tales, Cross, Aquatint, Beast of Blues and Murderers Row. He produced two CDs of original music, "Hurting Game" and "Back Home Someday". Jeff is survived by his wife, Marie; his daughter, Laura; brothers, Craig and Steve (Mindy); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and myriad fans. Services will be Saturday, December 7, at 9:00 AM at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather at Forest Lawn in Glendale. Lung cancer kills more people than all other cancers combined but receives the least funding. Mr. Taylor, a non-smoker, requested that memorial donations in his name be used to support lung cancer research.
