Completed his early existence in Salt Lake City, Utah at age 82 after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Salt Lake City. Son of Joseph W. and Norma Peterson Anderson. Graduated from East High School, Class of 1939. Served a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States 1941-1942. Enlisted in the United States Army Air Force 1943 and served in Italy. Graduated from the University of Utah, receiving a Bachelor and J.D. degree. Married Jean Anderson June 15, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Joined the FBI 1950 as a Special Agent in Washington, D.C., Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas, Baltimore, Maryland and Salt Lake City. Spent 30 productive, enjoyable years as an oil industry executive with Utah Oil Refining Company, then Standard Oil (Amoco) in Salt Lake, Chicago, Traverse City, MI and Kansas City. Chaired the Utah Petroleum Council. Served in LDS bishoprics, high council and teaching gospel doctrine class. Avid tennis player. Survived by wife, Jean; three children: Dr. Joseph R. Anderson, Jr. (Bonnie Thomas), Sharlene Lindsay (Bruce Lindsay) Barbara DeBry (Robert J. DeBry) sister Bette Lloyd, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents and sister, Elaine. Services held Friday, December 17, 2004 at the Cottonwood 16th LDS Ward.
