Mitch Bennett
June 20, 1978 - July 26, 2015
Mitchell Miles Bennett, 37, of Kennewick, WA, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 26, 2015.
Mitch was born on June 20, 1978 in Logan, Utah, the third son and fourth child of Maynard and Lori Bennett.
Mitch was raised at his parents' country home in the hills near Thatcher, Idaho with his three brothers and one sister, raising sheep, moving pipe and doing all the things that country kids do.
Mitch was a sweet, kind, sensitive child who loved to play in the sunshine, ride motor bikes, wrestle with his dad and brothers, and play little league baseball. He loved to hunt rabbits and deer in the hills behind his house and spent many carefree hours in the out-of-doors with family and friends.
He attended elementary school at Thatcher Elementary and junior high and high school in Grace, where he graduated from Grace High School in 1996. He inherited his dad's humble, unassuming soft spoken nature and quiet sense of humor. He was bright and competitive and willing to work hard to accomplish his goals.
While in high school, Mitch developed a love for running and did very well on his high school cross country team. He has participated in many marathons since that time, running as many as five marathons in a single summer season with a consistent time of three hours.
Mitch served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas Fort Worth Mission. He had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and treated others with compassion and understanding. He had a great capacity to love unconditionally and lived his life with generosity
and integrity. He was Christ-like in his attitudes toward others and tried to always find the good in family members and friends.
Mitch completed a bachelors and masters degree in accounting at Utah State University and was currently employed as CFO at Carbon One Industries in Kennewick, WA, where he and his family had lived for about five years.
Mitch married Monique Pacheco on Dec. 8, 2001 and adopted the little daughter Monique brought to the marriage. They eventually had three more children, two sons and another daughter. Mitch and Monique were sealed in the Timpanogos LDS Temple on Dec. 28, 2002. They were later divorced.
Mitch loved his children and was a very involved dad. He loved coaching his sons in little league sport and was proud of their developing skills. He was very concerned for their welfare and wanted them to grow both physically and spiritually. He wanted them to know that he loved them and was concerned for their welfare.
Mitch was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Bennett; his paternal grandfather, Allan Bennett; maternal grandparents, Herman and Geneva Viehweg; three uncles; and three cousins. He is survived by his mother, Lori Bennett of Thatcher; three brothers, Koby (Heather) Bennett of Lewiston, Utah, Hal (Sarah) Bennett of Rigby, Zachary (Chalee) Bennett of Idaho Falls; and one sister, Kamian Stevens of Boise. He is also survived by seven nieces and five nephews.
He was a great example to all who truly knew him and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 12 noon at the Thatcher- Williams Ward Chapel in Niter. Family will visit with friends on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
