Samuel and family were enumerated in Shirland, Winnebago County, Illinois in 1860. Also, in Shirland was Israel Luce who is buried there. Israel is known to have previously resided in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. Thus, I believe that Samuel was the Samuel Luce enumerated in Veteran, Chemung County, New York in 1840 and has two children buried in the Second Street Cemetery in Elmira, the same cemetery in which Israel Luce has a son buried.
In the 1840 census enumeration there were two male children under the age of five and one female child of age five and under age ten. These ages would coincide with the two children buried in Second Street Cemetery in Elmira.
