Marie Nelson McGee, 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 14th, 2010. Mrs. McGee was born in Callahan, Florida on July 19th, 1921. She was a daughter of the late William Mitchell Nelson and the late Edith Lula Davis Nelson and was the widow of the late Frank Royal McGee, who was the love of her life with whom she spent fifty-eight years of marriage until his death in 1999. Mrs. McGee was a member of the Coward Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years where she was a Sunday school teacher and she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. Years later, she was a cofounder and life-time member of Mission for Christ Church where she was active in special music and singing. She was a wonderful Christian example to all who knew her. Mrs. McGee was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed growing flowers, cooking, baking and decorating cakes, and taking care of others. She worked in the J.C. Lynch cafeteria for many years, and in her home she always had an extra plate for anyone who stopped in for a visit. Mrs. McGee also took care of many elderly ladies in her home. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her Christianity to the end. Because of these things, her family lovingly called her Marie "Marvelous" McGee. Mrs. McGee is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Gayle McGee; and her two sisters, Ruth Matthews and Bernice Limehouse.
