Terry's life began January 31, 1957 in Arkansas. He was one of eight children born to Johnny and Emma Jean Ashley and spent his childhood growing up in Southwest Michigan.
Terry worked for GATX (formerly Michigan Fruit Canners) for 20 years. He enjoyed playing cards especially poker, truck puling, car racing, following NASCAR, hunting, and filling his home with music. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving family which includes: his wife of 37 years Cheryl (Woodard) Ashley; two children Terry Jr (Katelyn Weber) Ashley of New Stanton, PA and Tina (Troy Kirts) Ashley of Osceola, IN; two grandchildren Briana and Tucker; five siblings Sharon Cox, Kathy (Hency) Naka, Chris (Rich) Nitz, Doug (Debbie) Ashley, Kenny (Marlena) Ashley; and many nieces and nephews.
Terry died Saturday, August 1, at University of Chicago Medical Center. His parents Johnny and Emma Jean (Latham) Ashley, two brothers Ron and Gary Ashley, a brother-in-law Gary Cox, and his father-in-law Duane Woodard precede Terry in death.
Friends may visit with Terry's family Wednesday, August 5, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet, where funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, August 6 at 3:00 PM with visitation prior starting at 2:00 PM.
