MRS. PIERSON DEAD

Aged South Side Woman Died Saturday at the Home of Her Sister

Mrs. Rachel Pierson died Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Phoebe Harsh, 113 N. Moore street. Mrs. Pierson was 83 years of age and had been a resident of this city for many years. She was the widow of Allen Pierson, a former prominent citizen who died about 20 years ago. The funeral services were conducted from the residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. R.L. Patterson, pastor of the Willard Street Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in the Shaul cemetery.

EARLY SETTLER PASSES AWAY.

Funeral of Mrs. Rachel Pierson Held Yesterday Afternoon.

Mrs. Rachel L. Pierson, one of the earliest settlers and oldest residents of Ottumwa, who passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Phoebe Harsch, 113 North Moore street, at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon was held yesterday afternoon from the residence. The services were conducted by Rev. R.L. Patterson, pastor of the Willard street Methodist Episcopal church. The interment was in the Shaul cemetery. Mrs. Pierson was the widow of Allen Pierson, who passed away nearly twenty years ago, but who will be remembered by the old settlers as one of the most prominent men of Ottumwa at that time. Mrs. Pierson was 83 years of age, and is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Harsch and Mrs. F.J. Kelsey, 1220 North Court street.
