Eugene "Gene" Paul Freeman, 91, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015, at NHC Healthcare of Bristol. He was born in Dante, Va., on February 19, 1924, a son of the late Floyd and Mary Alice Hinkle Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet McClanahan Freeman; one brother; and three sisters. Gene was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II. He is survived by his three daughters, Norma Shockley and husband, Ronnie, Barbara Buck and husband, Carl, and Trena Jackson all of Bristol, Va.; five grandchildren, Toni Teaster, Hope Yawn, Vanessa Robertson, Brad Morrell, and Kelli Spiva; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Coy Freeman and wife, Erma of Bristol, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and all of his special friends at Lee Highway Hardee's. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, Va. The chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services with Floyd Bailey and Bill Haywood officiating. The committal and interment will follow the chapel service on Wednesday at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Bristol, Va. Military honors will be provided by Bristol VFW Honor Guard post # 6975. Pallbearers will be Chris Teaster, Evan Teaster, Brad Morrell, Dewey Spiva, Larry Arnold, and Bill Merritt. Condolences for the family may be sent and viewed by visiting www.BlevinsCares.com.
