Lora Jean Hiti, 54, passed away April 21, 2012 in Beech Grove.

She was born in Huntsville, AL to the late Matthew and Lorraine Hiti.

Lora was a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital for 23 years; and attended Indian Creek Christian Church.

She is survived by daughters Gretchen (Craig) Boyd, and Ilsa Burkhardt; grandchildren Emma Jean Boyd and Mattea Lorraine Burkhardt; sisters Linda Hiti and Martha Hiti Strobl; nieces Charlotte Avery, Sarah Strobl, and Becca Strobl.

A memorial service will be held Friday April 27, 2012 at Indian Creek Christian Church 6430 S., Franklin Rd. Indianapolis, In 46259 at 7:00 PM with a Memorial Fellowship from 4:00-7:00PM

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lora Hiti Memorial Fund at any Indiana Members Credit Union or Mailed to:

American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 150 selects “Miss Poppy 2007”

The regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Rushville Unit No. 150 was held at 7 p.m. March 21 at Post No. 150, with vice-president Sherry Aker presiding. The meeting opened with prayer, a silent prayer for deceased members and the armed forces of our country, Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.

The secretary called the roll of officers and a written roll call was taken of the members in attendance. A quorum was declared present. The secretary read the minutes of the Special Called Executive Committee Meeting held to handle the business of the unit in the absence of a regular unit meeting. A motion to appoint Madison Owen as "Miss Poppy" for 2007 was passed.

The election of the nominating committee was held: Sherry Aker, Emily Hedrick and Martha Strobl. Minutes were ratified and approved at the March 21 meeting. The minutes of the Oct. 18 meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was accepted and filed for audit. Various committees gave updated reports on their status.

The 2007-2008 elected officers are: president Virginia Willkie; vice-president Sherry Aker; secretary-treasurer Helen Moore; chaplain Marjorie Van Wert; historian Lora Jean Hiti; sergeant-at-arms Emily Hedrick; executive committee Martha Strobl and Thelma Hardrick. Officers will be installed at the May 16 Poppy Banquet.

The meeting closed with Martha Strobl reading the Prayer for Peace.

Anna Karen Pennington, Poppy Banquet chairman, will discuss the banquet at the April Unit meeting. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 18 at the Post Home.
