Sweetwater - Ira N. Achord, resident of Sweetwater since 1926, died at Morris Rest Home in Roscoe at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. He had been a patient there for the past five years.
Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Cate-Spencer Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Dunn, pastor of Fundamental Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Born Aug. 30, 1884 in Moohouse Parish, La., he came to Houston with his parents when he was 13. He worked for Southern Pacific Railway and was a retired employee of Santa Fe Railway.
He has no known relatives.
